Unbreakable Spirit® Walk-n-Wheel

Join Team

Let's show our Unbreakable Spirit®. Virtually.

While we won't physically be together in Omaha this summer, we'd like to invite members of the OI community to come together virtually for an Unbreakable Spirit® Walk-n-Wheel!

Plan on joining your fellow OI friends and family for this fun way to spread awareness and raise money for the OI Foundation.

Register today as an individual or create a team!

You can set your own fundraising goal, invite friends and family to join your team and most importantly, you can personalize your page with your OI story and a picture of yourself.

Share your page on social media and send out emails to all your family and friends to invite them to support you with a donation or join your team. We've written a few emails to get you started, but your friends and family want to hear from you so we encourage you to personalize your emails as well. Be sure to share your personalized page often!

Come together virtually on Friday, July 10th from 7:00-8:00pm eastern time. Wear a blue shirt or your favorite OIF gear, make a sign with your team name and walk or wheel around your neighborhood to help spread awareness for osteogenesis imperfecta. Don't forget to take photos and videos to share with the OI Foundation and on social media.

Don't forget to print out your very own Walk-n-Wheel Window Sign! Show your friends and neighbors that you are participating in the Virtual Walk-n-Wheel on July 10 by posting your Walk-n-Wheel sign in or outside your home. You can also send window signs to your donors so they can show their support for you in their neighborhoods!

"Over 30 years ago, our daughter was diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI).  Martha and I struggled to understand OI and as young parents, we were looking for support and answers. Fortunately for us, the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (OIF) was there to help. For the last 30+ years, we have been active in the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation. I had the honor of serving as the President of the OI Foundation Board of Directors from 2013 to 2016.   Our daughter, who is now 33 years old, lives in Waco, Texas where she is Senior Pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church. She will soon be moving to Louisville, Kentucky where she will be the pastor of the Highland Baptist Church.  The fact that she has matured and has the confidence to live an independent life is attributable to the support that we have received from the OIF over the years.

The OIF will be holding its first ever Virtual National Conference on (July 10th through the 12th). As part of the conference, they will be holding a Virtual Wheel and Walk to raise funds for OIF.   I would greatly appreciate it if you would join me in participating in the virtual Wheel and Walk.

I am dedicating the funds that I raise this year to the memory of Gemma Geisman, whose pioneering work founded the OIF fifty years ago. Gemma passed away earlier this year but her legacy lives on.

Thank you for your friendship and continued support of OIF!"

"At the 2018 walk-n-wheel, we had a ball getting to parade down the street, and celebrate at the end with our OI family, medical professionals and friends!  I distinctly remember Harper and Carter Brown chanting, “We have OI, we’re proud, and we’re not afraid to show it!” holding up their team name posters by the Baltimore Aquarium.  Jennifer Brown (Carter’s mom) and I looked at each other with huge smiles on our faces when we saw that!  It was just a special and proud moment to see our kiddos enjoying this effort and celebrating who they are.  I encourage you and your family to take part in the next one in Omaha."

"As a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon and the director of the OI clinic at Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, I am very excited to have the OI community coming to Omaha in July 2020 for the biennial National Conference and to be one of your co-chairs for the 2020 OIF National Unbreakable Spirit® Walk-n-Wheel! When I participated in the Medics on the March fundraiser, friends and family were more than willing to donate to help me reach my fundraising goals once they knew how big of a role OI played in my life. I am honored to care for children with OI and excited to be a part of this event to raise awareness and funds for the OI foundation! See you in Omaha!"
