Jacob “Jack” Saeman Memorial Donation Page

Jack spent his career as a compounding pharmacist, and of everything he did, he was proudest of the medicines he formulated for children. Not the ordinary prescriptions — the ones that had to be built from scratch, in the right strength and the right form, because a particular child needed something that didn’t exist yet. That was the work he loved.

When his granddaughter Samantha was born with osteogenesis imperfecta, that instinct found its person. He met her diagnosis the way he met everything — not with worry, but with the conviction that she would live a full life, and that the rest of us had better keep up.

Long before Samantha arrived, Jack had a mantra, borrowed from the old Sinatra song “High Hopes.” The one about an ant with no business moving a rubber tree plant, who moves it anyway. He sang it to her often. An unbreakable spirit was and will always be a part of him.

Gifts in Jack’s memory support the mission of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (OI Foundation) to improve the quality of life for those living with osteogenesis imperfecta through research, education, awareness, and mutual support.

He’d have liked knowing the ant is still at it, and our spirits remain unbreakable. May his memory be a blessing.
